Tell us your idea for a large-scale regreening project!
The Project Design: Criteria and Processes publication outlines qualities that make regreening projects attractive investments and outlines Spades’ criteria and processes for projects. Each project starts with at least 10,000 hectares/25,000 acres, with 10,000 new trees grown (not just planted), and addresses the causes of deforestation in four parts:
- Protecting and monitoring existing forested habitats and increasing biodiversity, working with their owners to monitor forests using on-the-ground and satellite technology.
- Expanding forested habitats around these existing forests through replanting a mix of native tree species. In some cases, this will include replanting mangroves in coastal habitats.
- Creating a development zone to provide sustainable timber and other economic benefits for the community.
- Working with local farmers to incorporate agroforestry, enhancing their agricultural production and livelihoods.
Please describe your project, including the number of trees and hectares forecast for the first six years and beyond. The project’s impact on social, environmental, and economic sustainability should also be outlined. If you have a short landscape video to share with us, even if it is raw footage from a mobile device, please include a link in the description field.
We look forward to learning more about your project and will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible. Thank you for your interest in Spades.
